How Diet Affects Your Acne

Many people are surprised to learn that what they eat can influence their skin. While diet is not the only cause of acne, certain foods may make breakouts worse for some people. Foods that are high in sugar and refined carbohydrates, such as sugary drinks, candy, and white bread, can cause quick spikes in blood sugar. These spikes may increase inflammation in the body, which can lead to more frequent breakouts.

Dairy products may also affect acne in some individuals. Milk and other dairy foods contain hormones that can sometimes trigger oil production in the skin. When the skin produces too much oil, pores can become clogged, leading to pimples. This does not happen to everyone, but it can be helpful to pay attention to how your skin reacts after consuming dairy.

On the other hand, foods rich in vitamins and antioxidants can support healthier skin. Fruits, vegetables, nuts, and fish contain nutrients that help reduce inflammation and support skin repair. Drinking enough water is also important because it helps your body stay balanced and supports overall skin health.

A balanced diet does not guarantee perfect skin, but healthy eating habits can play an important role in reducing acne over time.
